Close-Grip Push-Up
How to do it
- 1
Get into a push-up position with your hands directly under your shoulders, a little narrower than a normal push-up.
- 2
Brace your abs and squeeze your glutes so your body forms a straight line.
- 3
Lower your chest toward the floor keeping your elbows close to your ribs.
- 4
Push the floor away until your arms are straight, squeezing the triceps at the top.
Common mistakes
- Letting the elbows flare out to the sides.
- Dropping the hips or piking them up.
- Cutting the range short at the bottom.
Tips
- Too hard? Do them with your knees on the floor or hands on a bench.
- Lower in 2–3 seconds to make each rep count.
- When 15 good reps are easy, move on to diamond push-ups.
