Bent-Over Barbell Row
How to do it
- 1
Hold the bar with an overhand grip and hinge at the hips until your torso is about 45° or lower.
- 2
Keep a neutral spine and slight knee bend.
- 3
Row the bar to your lower ribs, squeezing your shoulder blades together.
- 4
Lower the bar under control until your arms are straight.
Common mistakes
- Rounding the lower back.
- Standing more upright each rep to use momentum.
Tips
- Brace your core as if about to be punched before each rep.
- If your lower back fatigues first, switch to a chest-supported row.
