What is it?
'Ideal body weight' formulas were developed decades ago, mainly to dose medications. They're still widely searched as a reference for weight goals.
Because they ignore body composition and frame size, we show them next to the healthy BMI range — a more useful target zone.
How it's calculated
All four formulas start from a base weight at 5 feet (152.4 cm) and add a fixed amount per inch above that.
Devine: 50 kg (men) / 45.5 kg (women) + 2.3 kg per inch. Robinson: 52 / 49 kg + 1.9 / 1.7 kg per inch. Miller: 56.2 / 53.1 kg + 1.41 / 1.36 kg per inch. Hamwi: 48 / 45.5 kg + 2.7 / 2.2 kg per inch.

How to interpret your result
Consider the range, not a single number. Many healthy, muscular people weigh more than these formulas suggest.
If you want to change weight, the calorie deficit calculator estimates a realistic timeline.
